Remi Picó, born Remigio Picone, is an Italian artist and researcher whose practice moves across biological, cultural, and computational systems, tracing the shifting boundaries between the natural, the artificial, and the human. Based between the United States, Italy, and Brazil, he exhibits internationally across installation, performance, video, and sound, with a sustained inquiry into how ecological, technological, and representational systems meet and exceed their own limits. His artistic practice is grounded in a scientific career in academia and industry spanning molecular and cell biology, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence research. Doctoral and postdoctoral research at University College London and Harvard Medical School yielded publications in Nature and foundational contributions to the understanding of cellular mechanics and material science. Subsequent work as an AI research engineer in industry extended this trajectory into generative and cognitive systems. Recent projects have taken this inquiry into territories where ecological crisis, indigenous knowledge, and institutional memory. His work moves between laboratory and landscape, between scientific rigor and poetic proposition, without resolving the tension between them.
